So Why Bother with MOBI to AZW3?
Here's the thing about MOBI – it's old. Like, really old. The format's been around since the Palm Pilot days. It works, sure, but it's showing its age. AZW3 is Amazon's update. Smoother page turns. Better looking fonts. Those fancy drop caps at the start of chapters. If you've got a Kindle Paperwhite from 2015 or later, you're leaving performance on the table reading MOBI files.
I made this converter because I was tired of my sideloaded books looking like they were from 2008. Same content, same cover, same words – just, nicer. And it's not just looks. AZW3 handles tables better. Pop-footnotes actually pop. If you've ever tried reading a nonfiction book with tables in MOBI, you know the pain. Numbers don't line up. Columns shift. AZW3 fixes that.
No sign-up. No "subscribe for faster conversion." Just drag your MOBI, click convert, and 30 seconds later you've got an AZW3 that looks like you bought it yesterday from the Amazon store. I don't watermark it, I don't keep a copy. Your book, upgraded.
People Ask Me These MOBI to AZW3 Questions
Probably not. Kindles before the Paperwhite (like the Kindle 4, Kindle Touch) don't support AZW3. Stick with MOBI for those. This tool is for newer models.
If they were in the original MOBI file, they'll be in the AZW3. If they were saved on your Kindle device itself (not in the file), you'll lose those. That's a Kindle thing, not a conversion thing.
Usually a bit bigger. AZW3 supports embedded fonts and better image handling, so file size goes up maybe 10-15%. Still fits on your Kindle. You've got thousands of books on there anyway.
Nope. Can't do it. Won't try. DRM is DRM. This tool is for books you legitimately own and have removed DRM from, or books without protection. I don't touch locked files.
